The tweet, written by Piers, read: “If failing to quarantine properly is punishable by 10yrs in prison, what is the punishment for failing to properly protect the country from a pandemic?”
Despite Emily deleting her retweet within just 10 minutes of posting it, someone complained about it.

It added that despite Emily removing the post after 10 minutes, she failed to publicly clarify that it had fallen short of editorial standards.
But Piers today fumed about the reprimand on Twitter, posting a link to a news story about Emily’s reprimand and writing: “This is quite incredible.
“The Govt has admitted we failed to properly prepare for this pandemic.

He later characterised the situation in even fewer words writing: “Maitlis retweets an undeniable fact, gets reprimanded by timid BBC bosses to appease the woke mob.”
