On Friday morning, Biden and First Lady Jill Biden visited Brookland Middle School, accompanied by Mayor Muriel Bowser.

The president told students to encourage their parents to get vaccinated, and once they were eligible, to get vaccinated themselves.
Addressing students directly, Biden said, “Once you all get vaccinated, you’re invited for a special visit at the White House.
“I’m gonna get in trouble with the Secret Service and I’m not sure how we’re going to mechanically do it.
“I assume the buses can get you to the White House, and if we can’t get you all in one room, we’ll be out in the Rose Garden, out in the back there.”
“We’ll maybe let you fly the helicopters,” Biden said, quickly adding,

“I’m only joking about that.”
He also joked about letting students fly the helicopter, an offer that, even in jest, the students were audibly excited about.
Before leaving, Biden once again implored those watching to get vaccinated, reiterating statements he made in his address on Thursday.
He called on schools to require vaccinations for staff and students who are eligible.
Friday was not the first time Biden has stopped himself mid-speech to acknowledge a gaffe.
BIDEN GAFFES
In June, the president stumbled over his words at a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel at EU headquarters in Brussels.
After briefly mentioning Jake Sullivan, his national security adviser, Biden seemed to mumble, speaking inaudibly before starting again.
“I’m leaving out a lot of people here, I apologize,” Biden said, using the same refrain he deployed today.
“I’m going to get in trouble,” he said, “but, anyway, we’ll get back to that.”
At 78 years old on his inauguration day, Biden is the oldest person to be elected President in U.S history.
