The star’s agency, International Artists Management tweeted the news with Ben retweeting with his own excitement.
He wrote: “Am so chuffed to announce this, gonna be fun #blessed #filming #Emmerdale.”
It isn’t yet known who Ben will play – but fans were delighted.
One wrote: “Hands down, you will always be Nate from The Bill as that is what I first saw you in! sorry not sorry cannot wait to see you in Emmerdale though!”
A second said: “Best news I have heard today. Congrats it’s gonna be awesome seeing you on my TV again xx”

Another added: “Congratulations Ben enjoy every moment whilst filming can’t wait to see u on screen.”
Ben’s Footballers’ Wives co-stars Ben Price and Peter Ash are currently starring in Corrie as Nick Tilsley and Paul Foreman.
Meanwhile the show’s star Zoe Lucker, who played the iconic Tanya Turner in the series recently opened up about the show’s potential comeback.
“What concerns me is people loved the series as it was,” she told Digital Spy.

“If you make a new one and it’s not as good, then it almost takes away from people’s memories and their happy experiences of watching the first one. So I’m not entirely sure [about a reboot].
“I know for a fact I would never do those sex scenes at this age, mainly because of my daughter and also because I’m a prude.
“I just couldn’t. It wouldn’t work for me to have to take my clothes off on national television now at all.”
