I’m an Ikea superfan – 10 hidden gems will make your home look more expensive
MODERN lux decor with affordable price tags seems impossible to find, even at Ikea.
Looking through every item is a challenge, so one Ikea super fan did it for you and found the 10 lush-looking items that aren’t absurdly expensive.
In a two-level Ikea warehouse, miniature utensils are stuffed next to spacious furniture.
And the path to the register is a trek away from the front doors.
It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the number of items in all the showrooms and the marketplace.
Luckily, the trained Ikea shopper Kristen McGowan decided to share her favorite hidden gems she’s found within the store.

Kristen posted a YouTube video revealing 10 items that look expensive but aren’t.
She takes viewers along as she scours the store to locate her prized pieces.
“Let’s jump right into window treatments because I think window treatments can absolutely make or break your space,” she starts.
Kristen highly recommends the VIDGA single track set for $20.

Including a track system along your windows will make your curtains look custom installed.
This track system can go along the windows or ceilings, around your bed, and as a room divider, depending on your preference.
Either way, the curtains will drape beautifully without any sort of curtain rod visible.
Kristen says the $39.99 white RITVA curtains with tie-backs are perfect for custom-looking curtains to pair with the track system.
The curtains come in either a 98-inch or 118-inch length.
“These do have some texture and weight to them, so they hang really nicely,” she admits.
Next, a tall bed frame is one of Kristen’s recent favorite finds.
The $599 YTTERVÅG four-poster bed frame will make your bedroom look luxurious for a reasonable price.
“A think another key element to a designer-luxurious bedroom is simple bedding, and Ikea has super simple bedding at an affordable price,” Kristen explains.
She recommends the $29.99 DVALA duvet cover and pillowcases as well as the $34.99 ÄNGSLILJA duvet cover and pillowcases.
“Stick to white, simple bedding. White duvet covers create this hotel look,” Kristen proclaims.
Kristen urges viewers to grab the $89.99 SANDANE mirror for a functional designer-like item.
She says: “Round mirrors are all over the designer space right now.”
The $17.99 FALLENHET vase comes in different sizes and looks like it was purchased straight out of a lush catalog.
You can use it as a vase or a kitchen utensil holder.
And she says the $6.99 Ikea 356+ round jars are great for organizing your pantry, closets, or countertops.
For $1,099, the tufted FRÖSLÖV sofa is a steal.
“I know a lot of Ikea sofas aren’t that comfortable, but this one is super soft. It’s a really cool mix of a traditional and mid-century modern sofa,” Kristen says.
While the feet of the sofa may make the entire piece look a bit cheaper, Kristen notes you can twist these off and replace them with ones you like.
Her favorite cabinet is the $479 REGISSÖR glass-door cabinet and she also loves the more custom-looking wardrobe: the $299.99 SUNDVIK.
“This can totally act as a closet or just some extra clothing space,” Kristen says about the SUNDVIK.
Viewers were more than pleased with Kristen’s finds and took to the comments to let her know.
“I’m so glad I found your channel. You are helping me to enhance my home decor. I really like the idea of the Track system,” an appreciative subscriber commented.
One thankful woman wrote: “I loved everything! Will use the curtains that are so versatile. Thanks for sharing your picks that I probably wouldn’t have noticed.”
