We created our own Copacabana-inspired motorhome for £21k – it has a rooftop drinks area, chaise longue and even a swing
A MUSIC loving couple who fell head over heels after discovering their mutual love of Barry Manilow have unveiled the results of their Copacabana-inspired motorhome renovation.
Husband and wife Paul and Victoria W-B from Essex decided to fork out £8k on the Fiat Ducato after Paul underwent life-saving bowel surgery and they wanted an adventure.

The couple then put upwards of £13k of their hard-earned cash into making it into what they’d always dreamed of – a £21k motorhome inspired by the lyrics of Manilow’s hit Copacabana.
And they showed off the results in a recent episode of Channel 5 series Million Pound Motorhome.
Their custom-made motorhome, which they use for enjoying holidays around the UK, is now complete with a cocktail bar with pineapple glasses, a pink chaise longue and even a swing.
They also recently installed a “special” rooftop terrace area where they can enjoy drinks, including Victoria’s favourite tipple – champagne.

Victoria, who works as a nurse and said she loves the “over the top” design, explained: “When I was 17 and Paul was 23, we fell in love literally over a love of music.
“When we built this campervan, we sort of wanted to keep that theme.”
Electrician Paul continued: “I was gravely unwell for a period of time and I think it just worked out well that to carry on going on holiday [safely during Covid], this was the way to do it.”
And showing he’s never looked back since, Paul then quipped: “When I’m driving the van by myself and no one else is in here, I must admit I do get some unusual looks.
“I think they think someone is sitting here with feathers and is waiting for me to break into song.”

This is the couple’s second self-build as they traded in the 17-seater beach-themed minibus they previously bought in 2020 as its ceilings were too low for Paul.
Victoria said: “The challenge with the other bus was that it had a low roof, so we made the decision to do a higher-topped one.”

Now, the couple plan to head to France on a three-week road trip where they expect to be stopped by lots of passers by.
Victoria explained: “Wherever we go now, we have to factor in at least an hour into the journey because we know people will want to come and photograph it and admire it.”
