I always get cold at night but have worked out the best way to keep my bed warm – it’s all about the blanket placement
A WOMAN who gets ridiculously cold at night has shared her personal advice on how to stay warm in bed – and it’s all about where you put your blanket.
Zara Lawrence took to the Family Lowdown Tips and Ideas group on Facebook to post about her top tip, writing: “Before, I would add blankets ON TOP of my duvet … 2, 3, 4, 5 or more in the hopes of keeping warm.
“I would wake up stiff and achey from the weight and still be cold at night.
“I have learnt, the best way to keep warm is to put the fluffiest blanket (like the teddy bear blanket) UNDER the duvet/directly on top of you and then the duvet on top.”
Zara added that placing the blanket there gives you “pockets of air all around your body to warm up before the duvet flattens against you”.
She gave the same advice to her father, who had been planning to order a 16 tog duvet to help with his coldness at night.

But once he tried his daughter’s tip, he was “much warmer” at night.
“I really hope others can try and I really hope it helps,” she concluded.
“Funny I do that when I go to my friends caravan but never thought of doing it at home .. will now,” one person commented on the post.
“I can confirm this!” another added.

“As a recent single person trying to keep myself warm in a king size bed is horrible so I wrapped myself up in a huge teddy blanket then 13.5 tog quilt on top I’ve never been so cosy!”
“A great tip,” a third commented.
“I hope your Dad stays warm.
“I’ve also read about using a spare duvet underneath a fitted sheet as well.”

“Another thing you can do is put a thinner quilt between your fitted sheet and mattress (mattress, quilt, fitted sheet),” someone else agreed.
“This helps keep you warm at nite too. I’ve done this is the past and it works so well!”
