From probiotics to sleep aids, we look at products to help ease menopause symptoms
IT is World Menopause Day on Tuesday, which takes place annually on October 18 to raise awareness of the support options available for improving women’s health and wellbeing.
It is estimated there are around 13million people who are currently peri or menopausal in the UK.
It can cause symptoms such as anxiety, mood swings, brain fog and hot flushes.
Today I look at the new products available to help women.
PROBIOTICS
MENOPAUSE specialist Health & Her has launched Menopause Biome, the UK’s first probiotics designed for women going through perimenopause and menopause.
Our gut contains live cultures, which help keep hormones balanced, but these can be disrupted by the menopause.

Topping up live cultures with two of these capsules a day can help to make sure the gut can break down available oestrogen for the body to use.
The range has 50billion live cultures and is suitable for women who are sensitive to phytoestrogens or other forms of oestrogen.
Menopause Biome capsules also contain a host of vitamins for hormone regulation and to fight fatigue. (£29.99, for 30-day supply, healthandher.com)
SLEEP
EIGHT out of ten women find sleeping difficult because of the menopause.
These temperature-regulating Indian Dohar blankets from Shades of Cool London can help.
The “supercharged sheets” comprise three layers of organic Indian “Mul Mul” cotton.

The layers of voile cotton trap cool air in the summer months, and in winter they trap warm air to keep you snug but not overheated. The designs are gorgeous and get softer each time you wash them.
Each Dohar is made by a female team in India.
For each one sold, the company donates £1 to a charity providing job opportunities to 200 women from low-income households in Indian city Jaipur.
