People are only just realising what the red spot is for on their saucepans – and they’re running to test it out
HAVE you ever wondered just when your saucepan is hot enough to cook on?
Well, one woman has found out there’s a clever way of figuring that out – and it’s all to do with the red spot in the middle of the pan.
“I was today years old when I realised the circle on the pan turns solid red when it’s ready,” she wrote over a clip of the the spot, which featured tiny spots around the letter T in a circle.
Once it was ready to cook on, the tiny spots disappeared, making a solid red circle.
“wait a damn minute,” one person commented on the video.
“can’t believe I’m just now knowing this I have had these pans for 2 years,” another added.

“The way I whipped it out so fast (my pan),” a third wrote.
“What?! I can’t believe I never realised that,” someone else commented.
“Mind = blown,” another added, while another agreed: “Cmonnnnnnnn I’m already in bed. Sigh: goes to kitchen.”
“got out of bed and checked and it’s true,” someone else said.

“literally ran to my stove,” another laughed.
The red spot – aka the Thermo-spot – is actually a Tefal innovation, as the company explained: “Just like your oven, getting your pan to the right temperature before adding food makes a big difference.”
And others insisted they’d known about the red spot for ages, with one writing: “bruh it’s on the packaging.”

“They made commercials about this in the early 2000s,” another laughed.
As someone else added: “It’s literally the defining feature of a Tefal pan…”
