Woman issues urgent warning for people to check their washing machines after finding a gross growth in hers
A MUM has issued an urgent warning for people to thoroughly check the inside of their washing machines after finding a “growth” in hers.
Taking to the Facebook group Mums Who Clean, the woman admitted she was stunned to find mould inside her machine, as it was fairly new.
She had also been trying her best to take steps to prevent mould from popping up in the washer.
“Damn it,” she wrote.
“I have only just realised that my not so old washing machine has mould.
“I thought I was being careful by leaving the door open after every wash and cleaning with vinegar and bicarbonate of soda but must have been while we were away over Christmas.”
She added that she “cannot remember” the tips she’d read to get rid of the mould, writing: “Could I please have suggestions on how and if is possible to remove?”
Her post was inundated with responses from people offering their suggestions, with clove oil being one.
“I spray mine with clove oil solution to kill the mould, then the next day soak sheets of paper towel in Mould Away from Aldi, line the rubber all around the seal and leave it overnight,” she wrote.
Aldi’s Mould Away spray was also recommended by another woman.
“Get the Mould Away from Aldi and spray overnight!” she wrote.
“Then wipe it and run the machine with the drum cycle and then one normal cycle and one empty cycle and that’s it.”
But whatever happens, don’t even attempt to take the seal off for a thorough clean.
“Whatever you do don’t take the rubber off, you’ll never get it back on,” someone else warned.
“Even the repairer couldn’t do it.”
