Inside Scotland’s biggest Aldi – and it’s rammed full of fan-favourite Special Buys
ALDI has almost 1,000 stores across the UK and is a huge hit with customers thanks to its low prices.
The budget supermarket is beloved by shoppers for its cheap food and middle aisle bargains.
And if you’re looking for the most extensive selection of stock, you might want to pay a visit to their biggest branch in Scotland.
Aldi’s store in Drumchapel, Glasgow, measures a whopping 15,166 sq ft – bigger than an Olympic swimming pool.
The store has a huge fresh produce section, the lucrative middle aisles and extensive frozen produce aisles providing customers with the best of Scottish food and drink.
It was opened in November 2017 by store manager Andy Sweeney and Polly Swan, Team GB rower.
Andy Sweeney, store manager, said: “The Drumchapel store serves our local community with a huge range of quality, great value produce from across Scotland.
“We are thrilled to be named as the largest of the Aldi stores in Scotland and our busy aisles show we are a hit with local shoppers.”
In other Aldi news, a supermarket worker has revealed the little-known trick to get Specialbuys that are no longer in store.
The latest Specialbuys land in the middle aisles on a Thursday or Sunday.
But if they’re all sold out by the time you pay the store a visit, you may not have missed out.
The Aldi worker said: “One thing Aldi shoppers might not know about is that they can get a range of Specialbuys at an even lower price by going online.
“There is a sale section on the Aldi website, where you can find Specialbuys that are no longer available in stores.”
In other words, the next time you’re disappointed about missing out on a Specialbuy in store, head to its website in case it’s available there.
And shoppers can also look forward to more Scottish items in store this year.
An Aldi spokesperson said: “In 2022 Aldi continued to underline its commitment to Scottish suppliers and produce with the aim of bringing the best of Scotland’s vibrant food and drink sector to its customers.
“2023 will see the retailer build on this commitment with the addition of more Scottish products to its core range.”
