I’m a country girl – I asked for ‘farm or cowboy’ themed names, people say the replies are so bad they make them ‘itchy’
THE discussion around baby names can go in so many directions.
While some people love the simple classic names – Ben, Jack, Olivia – others like ones that are a little more out there.
A couple asked for a “cowboy, rodeo, or farm” themed named for their baby[/caption]One parent revealed the name options they were given when they asked for suggestions, and the internet wasn’t very into any of them.
Posting to Reddit, the parent said they were having a baby boy in two weeks and wanted “something cowboy, rodeo, farm kid themed.”
They shared the slew of suggestions that they had already received: Roper, Swayde, Montgomery, Wylden, Rip, Haygen, Warren, Copelan, Cutter, Lane, Cynch, Rucker, and Tex were some.
Other ideas they were given included: Rowdy, Urban, Rocker, Tuff, Hank, and Billy Bob.
Reddit users, however, couldn’t help but make fun of these monikers.
“Yes, please name your farm kid ‘Urban,’” one person wrote.
Replying to that comment, another user chimed in: “[The parent’s] only association with ‘cowboy’ is either Keith Urban or the movie Urban Cowboy.”
A third person said one of the names gave him a weird sensation: “I saw Roper somewhere recently and it made me super itchy.”
A fourth just shut them down completely: “Haygen and Cynch are egregious.”
And lastly, someone joked about coming up with another farm-esque name: “My mom used to work with a man named Rowdy. I could see that as a nickname, but not a legal name unless you’re raising a wrestler or wrangler. Hey – I came up with a name to add to the list: Wrangler!”
Reddit users thought the majority of them were not very appropriate for a baby[/caption]
