Homeless man who ‘joined rape’ told police ‘she had the time of her life’ after pinning woman down in bushes
A HOMELESS man who joined in while a teen was being raped told police she had the “time of her life”, a court heard.
Wesley Roden allegedly approached the 18-year-old while she was being attacked by a first suspect and asked: “Can I have a go next?”
Wesley Roden is accused of raping a teen girl on a night out[/caption]The 33-year-old, who denies rape, then forced himself on the student in Victoria Embankment Gardens in central London, it is said.
The first man, who is still being hunted by police, told him: “Yeah, you can do what you like when I’m done”.
Southwark Crown Court heard how Roden seemed “a little bit too jovial” when he was arrested the following day.
Prosecutor Ben Temple said when questioned by police, he told officers: “He suggested in interview the complainant was an enthusiastic partner who instigated sexual activity and said ‘She had the time of her life’.
“He said she was a s**t and that she told him she had sex with strangers every weekend and was a ‘twisted little slag’.”
Jurors were told the girl had been out with two friends after having “pre-drinks” of vodka, cider and beer.
But when they were refused entry to Heaven nightclub, the group headed to a McDonald’s to sober up.
The alleged victim then got separated from her friends and gained entry to the nightclub.
She was seen on CCTV leaving at 2.40am with the first suspect, who helped her climb over the locked parked gates, it was said.
He was then recorded leaving alone, followed by the woman eight minutes later.
Roden was arrested at the Charing Cross subway, where he was sleeping rough, and told officers: “I’m not a rapist”.
In her statement to police, the complainant said she remembered lying on the grass with her tights and underwear by her ankles.
She said she recalled feeling “pain around the hips” as she was raped by the first man.
The girl added: “It felt surreal and I want ten out of ten for drunk.
“My knees were up to my chest and I was just wanting for it to be over and was blacking in and out, distracting myself.
“Another man came over with a beard and said: ‘Can I have a go?’ and the first man says: ‘That’s a bit weird’ and then said: ‘Once I leave you can do what you want with her.’
“The second man looked at me and saw I wouldn’t do anything or stop it.
“He was over me and then he was gone. I woke up on the grass and realised everything that had happened.”
The court was told Roden has twenty previous convictions including for assault, criminal damage and threatening behaviour.
The trial continues.
