I used to weigh 300 pounds and went on the worst first dates – a guy dumped me before we got to the dinner table
ROMANTIC dates can be nerve wracking no matter how many times you’ve gone out together, but they’re especially tricky if it’s your first time meeting.
A woman named Amber Clemens, who once weighed 300 pounds, said her first date with a man went south before they even made it to the dinner table.
Although Amber has now lost 160 pounds, she said back when she was much heavier she went on several horrible first dates.
Posting to her TikTok (@alittlebit_amber), the weight-loss coach recounted the “worst and shortest” date she has ever been on.
She began by sharing a photo of her when she was heavy.
“But don’t get it twisted, I loved myself then. I love myself now. I had a lot of self-confidence here,” she began.
Taking us back to the year 2016, she recounted the horrible evening.
It began with an online dating app, where she hit it off with a guy who she continued to talk to for weeks.
“And before all of the, ‘You probably catfished him’ people come into my comments, no I did not.
“I had several full body pictures of myself on my profile because I was not ashamed of who I was.”
After chatting back and forth for some time, the two of them decided to meet up for a date.
“I put in all the effort. I put on a very cute outfit, did my makeup, all the things.”
She drove to the restaurant in excitement.
“And this man shows up in what I can only describe as a wannabe New York City gangster outfit. It was bad.”
Amber claimed that he, in fact, was the catfish.
“But I am an accepting person, so I was like, ‘Ok. We had good chemistry. Let’s just see how this date goes.’”
After introducing herself to him, Amber could immediately tell that the man was not into her.
“But we go in, we wait for the table, and I try to start the conversation.
“I’m like, ‘So how was your day? Tell me about how work is going.’ Because, again, we had been talking for a couple of weeks.”
The hostess then approached them and said it was going to be a 45-minute wait for a table.
They both agreed that they were willing to wait, so Amber continued to try and make conversation with the reluctant man.
“About 15 minutes later, he asked if I wanted to go outside with him.
“I’m thinking we’re just going to stand outside and chat in the fresh air.
“Instead, he goes, ‘So, you really misled me here and you’re just really not who I thought you were.’”
The man pointed to her body and said: “This is just not going to work for me.”
He wasn’t going to call off the night completely, though.
“He was like, ‘But we could still have dinner.’ I’m like, ‘Why? Why would I want to stay? I’m good. I’m going to go home.’
“And he said, ‘But I drove all the way here.’ And I said, ‘And you can drive yourself back.’
“The audacity.”
The part that shocked Amber the most was that the man was angry with her for not wanting to continue the date after he insulted her.
In the comments section, viewers said they’ve experienced dates just as bad as this one.
“I had a guy, after I turned him down, tell me that I had to be desperate because look at me,” one person said.
“I had a similar experience when I was young. He straight up looked at me and said, ‘You’re a lot bigger than I thought. I don’t want to talk anymore,’” another shared.
