I fell for the Dyson Airwrap and Charlotte Tilbury crazes & didn’t love them – you don’t have to buy everything you see
HAVE you ever spotted someone talking about a product on social media and just knew you had to have it too?
One TikTok user said she can totally relate to the scenario, as she’s been that girl in the past.
However, Nelly London, who can be found at @_nelly_london, said she no longer buys into it.
That’s because Nelly ended up regretting some of her biggest purchases, as she jumped on the latest social media idea of ‘de-influencing.’
Nelly told her 53k followers: “My favourite thing to ever happen to TikTok is this whole de-influencing thing.
“I have so many of these because I’m an idiot and fall for everything.”
The TikToker then lifted the lid on the popular and hyped products she’d never buy again.
She began with a Dyson Airwrap – something she said was simply not for her.
Nelly revealed: “It doesn’t work for my hair, the barrels are nowhere near long enough, nothing holds, and it dries my hair – but way slower than my normal hair dryer.
“I just don’t get it. I bought this second hand on eBay and I’m going to put it back on eBay because it just doesn’t work for me.”
But that wasn’t the only product that she hasn’t got along with.
Nelly then said that despite being a big fan of Charlotte Tilbury, she couldn’t get on board with one of the make-up brand’s liquid highlighters that blew up on TikTok.
“It’s fine and it gives you some glow, but the bottle just ends up looking like this,” she said as she held up the product that was covered in highlighter.
She continued: “When it’s loose in a bag, it squeezes and then you open it and it’s just highlight explosion all the time.
She concluded: “I’m going to finish this, but I’m not going to buy it again.”
The third and final thing on Nelly’s list was an outfit – this time an elaborate dress from brand Miscreants.
Nelly explained: “I paid nearly £400 for this dress with these sleeves and the gloves to go with it and I have no idea why.”
Reeling off some reasons that she wasn’t a fan, Nelly said while others might like it, it was something that now just hangs in her wardrobe.
She said: “The dress isn’t double lined, there’s no structure, there’s no boning.
“They look unreal in photos – but don’t do it.”
