I’m a beauty pro and had NEVER been to Primark – I decided to see what all the dupe fuss was about and was blown away
A BEAUTY expert who had never visited Primark before was blown away by the skincare and makeup products on offer.
Alexis Androulakis – who is one half of the makeup product development duo The Lipstick Lesbians – recorded her first ever trip to the budget store.
She scoured the beauty aisles and weighed in on everything from innovative skincare products to high end dupes.
The review was posted on Tik Tok.
The first products Alexis picked up were retinol and hyaluronic acid serum ampules and said the product quality was “super concentrated”.
These capsules are a dupe for the Elizabeth Arden ones – which can cost up to £75 for a tub while the Primark ones cost just £3.
Moving onto the oral hygiene section, Alexis picked up some interdental sticks for £1.
She joked: “I didn’t even know I needed this.
“But of course I could use this.”
The beauty guru continued into the skincare section: “I mean they have all these masks.
“These are $1 (80p)… That’s crazy.
“All of this is definitely made in China.
“I could just tell by the prices.
“It’s not even a question.
“It doesn’t mean that the quality is bad.”
Alexis was then taken aback by the shelves of cosmetic storage and container pieces, quipping: “These are not easy to find.”
She compared the makeup brushes to Real Techniques – which retail for up to £8 a piece.
Alexis narrated: “I have to touch them to see if they’re good.
“But from a budget perspective like… I mean they have essentially everything.”
Moving over to the makeup counters, she pointed out a £4.50 cream blush that was a dupe for Charlotte Tilbury’s Light Wand.
Alexis said: “It’s got that really nice gel texture.
“It’s a little sheer.
“The spread isn’t perfect but you could do some work with this.”
The beauty guru concluded that Primark was a good place to go for beauty products if you needed cheap stuff for travelling or were “on a pinch”.
