I’m a professional piercer but there’s four places I refuse to do in my salon – they just cause too many issues
A PROFESSIONAL piercer has revealed the four places they’d never do – insisting that some of them just cause too many issues.
One of the pros at Metal Morphosis took to TikTok to share a video detailing the four piercings they steer clear of at their studio.
The first is a tongue web, which goes underneath the tongue, through the middle of the skin that joins the tongue to the mouth.
The second’s a snug – which goes through the cartilage on the outer ridge of the ear – followed by the snake eyes piercing, a horizontal tongue piercing.
The list concluded with a finger dermal – a piercing that goes partly underneath the skin on the finger.
People took to the comments section to weigh in on the video, with one writing: “I would like to know why you don’t do the snug?”
With the piercer responding: “It’s super hard to heal, it goes through so many layers of cartilage therefore takes so long to fully heal.
“People come back with so many issues — It’s just not worth the trouble when you can simulate a snug piercing with a conch and a helix! Which looks basically the same!”
“Green flags all around, most of these reject or are just straight up dangerous,” another wrote.
“The snug is debatable but it’s very reasonable you wouldn’t do it.”
“Piercers that refuse snake eyes are the BIGGEST green flag,” someone else commented.
“The finger one is completely understandable cause why?” another asked.
“Why not the tongue web piercing, im tempted to get one?” another person asked.
“It goes through such a tiny bit of skin that it can easily tear/ migrate & it’s prone to a lot of plaque/ calculus build up on the bar!” the piercer replied.
But not everyone was convinced by the video, with one writing in the comments: “If a place won’t do all piercings I wont go because that means they lack the skill or confidence to do such piercing & I wouldn’t trust them.”
