Who is Kwajo Tweneboa?
KWAJO Tweneboa is shining a light on the severe cracks in Britain’s social housing systems.
His new documentary Untold: Help! My Home is Disgusting on Channel 4, exposes the terrible conditions that some social housing tenants live in and their cries for help.
Who is Kwajo Tweneboa?
Kwajo Tweneboa is a campaign activist and content creator.
Hailing from south London, he graduated with a degree in Business Entrepreneurship and Innovation from De Montfort University in February 2023.
The 23-year-old decided to become a housing campaigner after his father sadly passed away from oesophageal cancer in 2020.
At the time, Tweneboa and his family were living in appalling housing conditions which included a pest infestation, mould on the walls, and water pouring through the light fixtures.
“I couldn’t even bathe in my own house. I had to go to the gym,” he told The Guardian.
His father, a former care worker, was diagnosed with stage four cancer in November 2018 and was cared for at their home by Macmillan nurses.
However, the nurses struggled to care for Tweneboa’s father due to the poor state of the property.
“They were finding it difficult to bathe him in the bathroom, for example, as it had no lights and the tiles were falling apart.”
A year after his father’s death, he decided to shame the housing association on Twitter, posting a series of pictures showing the living conditions his family had to endure.
He wrote: “Clarion Housing has to be one of the worst council housing in London.
“Since my dad passed away in 2020 they’ve left me in a property which has been described as ‘unliveable’ and when I’ve called to chase a leak which I reported 5 days ago they’ve told me they’re busy.”
The tweet ended up going viral and attracting attention from the national press.
This led Tweneboa on his journey to fight for a change when it comes to the conditions of social housing in the UK.
