I worked in Zara – what the special symbols really mean on the price tags and no, it’s got nothing to do with the sizing
A FORMER Zara employee has spilled the beans on the mysterious symbols on their tags – and it’s nothing to do with how the garment fits.
Fellow fans of the high-street favourite, Zara, will be familiar with the triangles, circles and squares on the retailer’s tags.
For years, many shoppers and ex-workers have insisted that each shape tells fashionistas how the garment will fit – so for instance, square means it runs true to size.
However, Chloe Checksfield, 20, from Kent, shared some of her insights and claimed that this wasn’t the case.
Chloe, who has since joined a tanning shop, revealed that these symbols carry an entirely different meaning.
”Triangles is TRF, square is basic, circle is women,” the 20-year-old beauty fan explained to her 58k fans on social media.
The former retail assistant also chatted about discounts and perks of working at the popular store.
According to Chloe, staff get 25 per cent off – and no, they cannot share the bargain deal with their pals.
Answering why the employees on the floor tend to be so moody, the young woman said the answer was simple.
”Cause you all are literally horrible to us.”
Zara is not the only brand to use codes – eagle-eyed shoppers will have noticed that Tk Maxx labels are full of numbers too.
Fortunately, one savvy woman has found out what they stand for – so next time you’re heading to bag a bargain, keep this in mind.

Alex Pavlova, better known as Beauty For Everybody on TikTok, shared the discovery with her 36.2k fans and some branded the information a game changer.
According to Alex, who loves all things hair and beauty, there are three types of secret codes the retailer uses and each one means something else.
If you spot ”1” on the top of your price label, the savvy shopper insisted that the item had been produced specifically for TK Maxx.
However, if there’s a ”2” – this should be the second line from top – Alex reckoned it’s genuine unsold stock from popular brands.
Next up in the now-viral video was ”7” – this digit indicates that the product had been packed away from a previous year.
Sharing her shopping tips, Alex advised her followers: ”Always shop for ”2” and ”7” for the best deals.
”Thank me later,” she chuckled in the caption – and viewers certainly couldn’t have been more grateful for the useful piece of information.
One bargain-loving fashionista exclaimed: ”this is so helpful, thanks!!”
Someone else agreed, adding: ”girlll this might change the game [sic].”
”I work in tk maxx and didn’t know this,” an employee was just as stunned at the discovery.
”Check the expiration dates on any liquids or creams especially with hair care, skincare and make up,” another shopper advised.
”Powders are usually fine.”
