I’ve saved a whopping £4K since having a baby by avoiding nappies – people think it’s gross but I don’t care
A DOTING mum-of-three children has revealed that she managed to save £4k by avoiding traditional nappies entirely.
Holistic living star Meg T, known on TikTok as @flourishingmother, shared a simple video for her 146.6k followers after being hounded over how much money she was able to avoid spending through this method.
“When ppl ask me how much money I have saved cloth diapering 3 babies,” she wrote over the clip, where she could be seen folding the clothing.
Under this, she wrote: “$5,000,” which is the equivalent of £4,170 in total.
In the caption, she added: “It’s hard to really know but 1 year of disposable diapering is about $800 & most of my cloth diapers were passed down to me!”
Many people were left dumbfounded by this and took to the comments to share their thoughts on her parenting method.
“I’ve always thought about it I just cannot stand the thought of putting them in the same washer we use,” one person wrote.
Meg replied: “Hahaha I used to think the same but you don’t put poop in the washer! You get the poop off before”.
Another mum shared their hatred over the cloth diapering routine.
They said: “I only did it because I literally had to for my daughters chronic diaper rashes. But damn it was cheaper, even with all we were done for day and night within a week.” [sic]
Another third said: “I’m already regretting buying the cloth diapers and haven’t even had my fourth yet”.
Despite the odd comments here and there, many were open to the idea.
“Can u do a video on how to?” one person asked, adding: “I’m overwhelmed w options and want to do this for new baby”.
Meg replied: “Yes absolutely!”
While another mum said: “I need to switch, I spend $2,400 for a year on 2 kids”.
