I work in M&S – here’s how to do a weekly food shop for £37.48, we have some great bargains
WITH the cost-of-living crisis leaving families struggling up and down the country, cutting back where possible is a priority for many.
Whether that’s avoiding using the heating or not turning on the tumble dryer, many of us are trying to make savvy swaps to save some cash.
And switching up the usual food shop routine is no exception.
To help any struggling shoppers, one Marks and Spencer’s store has shared a weekly shopping list that won’t break the bank.
In a video, M&S Elgin said: “Here’s what you can get for under £40.
“Plan your week for £37.48.”
Employee Charlie was tasked with filling his trolley with essential bargains.
Charlie was able to get his hands on a variety of bargain buys – with some items priced as little as 50p.
He bagged a cucumber for 70p, 85p tomatoes and an iceberg lettuce for £1 as well as bananas for 78p, £1.50 oranges, a £2 bag of pears and £1.70 bag of apples.
He also picked up a 75p box of cereal, milk for £1.65, a six-pack of eggs (£1), 80 teabags for £1.10 and a £1.30 jar of coffee.
As well as this, the M&S worker got a block of butter for £2, loaf of bread (85p), two packs of cold meat – ham and chicken – for £1.50 each, chicken thighs for £1.50, a £1.80 pack of mince and 12 sausages for £6.
He also loaded up his trolley with a 95p pack of pasta, tins of baked beans (50p) and chopped tomatoes (55p), a bag of onions for £1, £1.15 bottle of diluting juice and a four-pack of toilet roll for £2.
And showing you can still treat yourself, he splashed out £2.25 on cookies.
It’s not the first time a shopper has showed M&S can compete with the budget supermarkets.
One woman decided to pop into her local Marks & Spencers and Lidl stores to see which one came out on top when it came to bargain deals.
Taking to TikTok, Kat who is also know as KatSaves shared the prices of essential grocery items from both retailers to advise shoppers on which store was cheapest.
