I totally transformed my rusty towel rail without ripping it off the wall – and it cost me 2p

A CLEANING fan has shared a super easy method to cleaning rust off her metal towel holder and all you need is two cupboard ingredients.

Beth uses vinegar and aluminium foil to scrub away the rust[/caption]

She said: “If your towel rails look as rusted as mine, do give this little trick a go.”

Beth said all you need for this method is two cupboard ingredients: aluminium foil and vinegar. 

“You wanna fold up some aluminium tin foil.”

Foil is great for adding shine to anything silver and you only need a few small pieces. 

Beth said: “I’m using cleaning vinegar, but you can also use normal white vinegar and water also will work.”

Vinegar is a great natural cleaner of rust. 

“And you just wanna wrap the aluminium foil around the towel rail and just start rubbing the rust away.”

“It literally takes like less than a minute to do on each rail. Like, it depends how rusted your rail is.”

Beth said make sure you go over the towel holder with a cloth to remove any residue.

Give your rack a little spray over with disinfectant as well.

“But then you wanna take a microfiber cloth and just wipe away all the residue and it turns out so bloody amazing.”

Metal rust is notoriously difficult to get rid as most people just throw items away. 

But with the amount of moisture that builds up in bathrooms it’s very likely to form on a metal towel holder. 

“So if yours looks like this, don’t throw it away. Clean it. Look at that, it is sparkling.”
