Jane McDonald leaves fans reeling with shock cameos in EastEnders, Coronation Street AND Emmerdale
JANE McDonald may have found fame on BBC reality TV show, The Cruise in the late 90s but she’s recently been making waves in the soap world.
The singer and presenter, 59, excitedly posted on Twitter that she’d made appearances in some of our most popular dramas, EastEnders, Coronation Street and Emmerdale.
Earlier today she shared a photo of a gold door plaque with the words “Leading to the Jane McDonald Room” that feature on an episode of Emmerdale last month.
Emmerdale fans will know that fictional characters Bernice Blackstock and Bob Hope are running the village’s B&B and have named the rooms after local celebrities, one of which is Dame Judi Dench and another is Jane McDonald.
Proudly posting a still from the soap featuring the room named after her, Jane wrote: “Flippin’ eck! I’ve been referenced in three of my favourite tv shows recently which is so exciting! Thanks so much for the fabulous mention guys! I LOVE my soaps! @emmerdale @bbceastenders @itvcorrie“
Her fans were thrilled and called for her to make a bigger cameo, one said: “I think you should be invited as a special guest on Emmerdale to officially open The Jane McDonald Room, Jane!”
Another added: “It was brilliant and it made me smile but OMG how great it would be if you appeared as yourself in one of them, popping in for a drink in The Vic, The Woolpack or The Rovers maybe.”
Most fans were exited and wanted to see more of her on screen. “Wonder where you’ll pop up next…there’s bound to be more,” one wrote. While another said: “Our National Treasure Jane, you deserve everything that comes your way, your absolutely priceless.”
In March last year, Channel 5 teased fans that Jane would be joining Emmerdale.
But they were actually promoting an episode of her travel show, My Yorkshire, where Jane visited the filming location of Emmerdale, known as Emmerdale Farm.
She met with Frazer Hines – who played Joe Sugden in the soap – outside the real Woolpack pub in Esholt.
Channel 5 wrote on Twitter: “EXCLUSIVE: @TheJaneMcDonald joins @emmerdale!! OK, that’s not quite true but Jane meeting Joe Sugden for a drink at the legendary Woolpack is the stuff of #Yorkshire dreams. Cheers! ”
Jane McDonald: My Yorkshire is available to steam on My5.
