I’m a busy mum and give my two-year-old chores – she doesn’t always like it and they go wrong but she needs to learn
A BUSY mum who gets her two and four-year-old to help with household chores has revealed everything the kids are responsible for.
Mum of-two Kallie Branciforte, from Connecticut, explained on YouTube why she doesn’t see a problem in her young kids doing their fair share.
Admittedly, the kids don’t always love being told they have chores to do, but there’s not always a big fuss either.
“Sometimes they jump for joy to do these chores and they absolutely love it, other times they moan and complain every single time I ask them.
“It’s definitely not all rainbows and unicorns over here with household tasks, the mum explained.
Miles, four, and Finley, two, might make the cleaning process a little longer for their mum, but she insisted it’s important they learn anyway.
Kallie doesn’t have especially high standards when it comes to her kids’ tasks either, and she confessed, “it’s not always pretty.”
“My kids don’t fold their shirts like I would, my two-year-old almost always spills her plate when she’s carrying it, and cooking with kids can be one of the most stressful things you endure as a parent,” she said.
Despite sometimes struggling, her kids are responsible for clearing their plates after meals and leaving them in the sink ready to be washed, as well as helping prepare family meals.
The tots also have to take their own clean laundry to their bedrooms, sort their clothes into the right drawers and lend a hand with out general cleaning tasks like vacuuming and wiping down counters.
Kallie hopes that by allowing her kids to learn to to basic chores now they’ll grow up to be self-disciplined and successful later in life.
Other parents flocked to the comment section of Kallie’s video to praise her for being so patient with the tots and teaching them importnat life skills so early on.
One wrote: “I absolutely love your advice and the fact that you mentioned what you do and how you encounter doing them.
“Sometimes as a parent I’d rather get stuff done by myself because it’s quicker. I love your tips and will be implementing them too.
And a second agreed: “You’re definitely on the right track, what we learn first, we remember longest.”
“This works so well and they will do them good as they age, and it’s much easier to start young,” someone else said.
