The Masters betting: Get the best tips, odds, and betting offers ahead of the first major at Augusta
THE Masters is just around the corner. And if that doesn’t get the pulse racing for any golf fan, it may be time to check out your life insurance policies!
The great beauty of Augusta – apart from the course itself – is that because it is the only permanent venue for one of the Majors, most people feel they know what it takes to win there.
Picking a winner for the Masters
In theory, finding a winner should also be easier because the Masters field is so much smaller than it is for the Open, The US Open and the USPGA – around 90 instead of 156.
But with danger lurking around every corner at Augusta, and not just at Amen Corner, where Rae’s Creek comes into play on all three holes, disaster can strike even the best players.
Just ask Jordan Spieth. He put two balls in the water at the par three 12th in 2016 to run up a quadruple bogey, just when he looked certain to add a second green jacket to the one he won 12 months earlier.
And with the LIV rebels doing battle with the Tour regulars, there is even more to look forward to.
The 18 LIV golfers in the field include six former Masters winners, including three-time champion Phil Mickelson and 2020 winner Dustin Johnson.
But current Open champion Cameron Smith, who was runner-up to Johnson and third to Scheffler a year ago, could make the most noise among the LIV contingent.
You just have to wonder whether the LIV players will lack a real competitive edge. But It promises to be a spellbinding Masters – as usual!

How to bet on the Masters
Betting on golf is easier than you’d image and there are a host of interesting markets you can pick from.
Here are five easy steps for beginners.
1. Choose Your Favorite Sportsbook – there are plenty to choose from and most have their own app or mobile site.
2. Make a Deposit – each sportsbook will walk you through how to connect your bank account to their system including providing a list of all the safeguards they have set up to ensure the safety of your transactions.
3. Claim Your Bonuses – most sportsbooks offers bonuses to first time bettors in the form of free bets.
4. Place Your Bet – now it’s time to navigate through your sportsbook’s odds where they will offer a variety of options including outright winners, or top finishing positions, such as top 10 or 20, or even to make the cut. For the event this week each way odds are generally paid on the top eight players.
5. Collect Your Winnings – If you’re successful you will be able to withdraw your winnings once the bet is complete. Some bookmakers offer cashout options on certain bets as well, which is worth keeping an eye on.

Who is the favourite to win the Masters?
Splitting the trio at the top of the world rankings feels like an impossible task. Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm will contest the shortest prices in the market with each bookmaker.
Scheffler is around 7/1 currently while Rahm and McIlroy are both around 15/2.
Jordan Spieth is next at 16/1 followed by Cameron Smith 18/1.
There is then a group at 20/1 including Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele.
Where to find the best odds for Masters?
Lots of bookmakers have different options for betting on the Masters, including competitive odds and different place markets.
We like the markets on bet365, including the price boosts on offer pre-tournament.
But it is worth shopping around to get the best value with each way odds and different places available throughout the market.
What does the winner of the Masters get?
The Masters winner joins an elite club to be handed the famed Green Jacket by the previous winner.
Defending champion Scheffler will hope to be receiving the jacket again, but if not he’ll be handing it to the winner.
Aside from the jacket the winner will also pocket a cool $2.7 million.

Top tips for betting on the Masters
The bookmakers are struggling to split the Big Three of Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm, who are all on offer at around 8-1.
That indecision is no surprise, considering the way that trio has distanced themselves from the rest at the top of the world rankings.
Scheffler and McIlroy finished first and second a year ago – but I like the chances of Rahm best, not least because he is under less pressure than his rivals.
Bet on Jon Rahm to win the Masters with bet365
McIlroy has already made eight attempts to complete the career Grand Slam, and adding the Masters to his two USPGAs and his Open and US Open victories is clearly a huge strain.
As for Scheffler, only three players have ever managed back-to-back victories at Augusta: Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo, and Tiger Woods. I’m not sure Scottie is ready to take his place in that company just yet.
Rahm was a disappointment at Augusta last year, finishing in a share of 27th. But before that he had rattled off four top ten finishes in a row at the Masters.
I’ll be amazed if his name is not back on the leaderboard this year.
Those looking for better prices should consider the likes of Collin Morikawa, Jason Day, and Sungjae Im, at odds of between 22-1 and 40-1.
Former world No1 Day has bounced back to form with four top ten finishes in his last five starts, while Morikawa is also looking more like the player who won the 2020 USPGA and the 2021 Open as a relative novice.
Im was joint runner-up at the 2020 Masters and finished in a share of eighth last year. He is one of the most consistent players on the planet.

Patriotic punters should get a good run for their money from the English trio of Justin Rose (50-1), Tyrrell Hatton (66-1) and 2016 champion Danny Willett.
Willett is a 150-1 outsider, and he would not have to improve much on last year’s 12th place finish to reward each way support.
Canadian Corey Conners is another player on offer at 66-1. Those odds look tempting after he finished sixth at Augusta a year ago, and also showed up well at the Open.
And if you want a complete ‘Hail Mary’ how about 300-1 shot Kazuki Higa from Japan?
He was tipped as ‘the next Hideki Matsuyama’ after winning four times on the Japan Golf Tour last year, to finish a runaway winner of their money list.
If Higa takes to the slick Augusta greens half as well as 2021 Masters champion Matsuyama, he could have a week to remember.
