Inside disgusting supermarket full of rotting dead RATS and infested with flie
A SUPERMARKET has been slapped with a £78,000 fine after hygiene inspectors discovered it is full of rotting dead rats.
Shocking photos show Yasar Halim Supermarket in Enfield, North London, infested with rodent dropping and flies.
Its owner Mehmet Yasar Halim had ignored several warnings from Council Environmental Officers about the shop’s pest control and food safety which led to an investigation.
He appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court on Tuesday where he was hit with fines totaling £78,590.62.
He was found guilty of not having a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP).
This meant the shop, which has an open cooked food area, a bakery and a butcher’s counter, had not been managing food safety hazards.
The supermarket was also found to have no control over pests and no protection against contamination.
Despite several visits from the council who handed the supermarket several reports, officers found no sign of improvement.
Horrifying photos show rotting rats stuck to a sticky trap in one of the food preparation areas, reports My London.
Other snaps show vile amounts of rat droppings lining the shop’s floor.
Inspectors also found that staff had not been washing their hands – and food prep areas were not clean.
An Enfield Council spokesperson said: “Swift action taken by the Council’s Environmental Health officers in this case was imperative, as the premises and its owner posed a significant risk to public health.
“Repeat visits to Yasar Halim by Council officers and warnings issued to clean and make the necessary repairs were ignored on several occasions.
“We would strongly encourage owners of premises selling and serving food in the borough to ensure they follow mandatory guidance for keeping their premises clean, follow essential hygiene rules and to ensure their staff are fully trained in food hygiene procedures.”
