BBC fans furious as Dragons’ Den star makes surprising offer – but did you spot it?
BBC fans were left feeling furious after a Dragons’ Den star made a surprising offer – but did you spot it?
This evening more entrepreneurs tried to impress Peter Jones, Deborah Meaden, Touker Suleyman, Sara Davies and Steven Bartlett with their business ventures.
The final guests on the show were married couple Helen and Mark Chapman, who were really keen to get an investment from Touker.
The pair wanted £60,000 in an exchange for 20 per cent of their business Bellybambino – an award winning brand of sea brass belly baskets designed for kids.
After being rejected by the four other billionaires, Touker told the pair: “I think you’ve come up with something, but you’re not quite there.”
After giving his critique, he said: “I’m going to give you all of the money… but I want 40 per cent.”
Mark quickly replied: “Done.”
After Helen and Mark “spoke to the wall”, they decided to accept his offer.
Many took to social media to share their shock.
One wrote on Twitter: “40%? Really?”
“Touker wants 40% and no hesitation? Wow,” a second tweeted.
A third added: “40% *spits out wine.”
Elsewhere in the episode viewers all said the same thing about a guest on tonight’s show.
Co-founder of Dandi London Theresa Pope was looking for £150,000 for 30 per cent of her business, which produces sweat absorbent patch, nipple covers and hair removal devices.
While the entrepreneur was explaining her plans, viewers at home were left distracted as they pointed out that she looks like a TV star.
One asked on Twitter: “#DragonsDen carol vorderman in the den?”
Another chimed in: “This lady looks like Carol Vorderman #DragonsDen.”
A third joked: “You would have thought Carol Verderman would have been better with the numbers than that….”
Unfortunately she didn’t impress any of the billionaires enough to get an investment.
Carol shot to fame in the early 80s and is best known for hosting Countdown.
