Emily Atack axes ITV2 comedy show after landing huge role in Disney drama
EMILY Atack’s ITV2 comedy show has been axed after she landed a huge role in a Disney drama.
The Inbetweeners star has shelved The Emily Atack Show after launching the sketch series in November 2020.
Actress Emily, 33, has won a starring role in new Disney+ drama Rivals, which which also stars Danny Dyer, and is an adaption of Jilly Cooper’s raunchy 1988 novel.
A TV insider told MailOnline: “The show means so much to Emily, but she felt it was the right time to move on, there are no plans to make another one.
“It takes a lot of work and dedication and other commitments this year meant it would be hard to give another series her all.
“She’ll always be proud of it as not many female stars have been able to make their own stand-up comedy show.”
Emily and Danny will be joined by David Tennant and Aidan Turner in the new series.
The eight part series features romantic entanglements, sex and unforgettable characters.
Its story is set against the backdrop of the drama, excess, and shocking antics of the power-grabbing social elite of 1980s England.
The series opens in the fictional county of Rutshire as a long-standing rivalry between two powerful men is about to boil over.
Comedian Emily Atack will transform into Sarah Stratton, the new wife to Deputy Prime Minister, Paul Stratton, played by Rufus Jones.
She has been seen looking unrecognisable alongside Danny with the pair dressed in country attire.
Last week The Sun revealed that Emily’s character will be stripping off for some very X-rated sex scenes.
