The series was a spin-off of the groundbreaking series, The A Word which was based on the Israeli series Yellow Peppers.

It followed a young boy and how his family coped with the revelation he has autism spectrum disorder.

But Ralph and Katie mainly focussed on the newly married couple, both of whom have Down’s Syndrome, after their groundbreaking wedding.

The six part drama aired between the 5th and 19th October 2022 as we saw how the pair got on as they faced various challenges during their first year of marriage.

Screenwriter Peter Bowker, who wrote The A Word, came back to pen the series and was joined by a team of disabled writers to help bring the show to life.

The 61-year-old was delighted to be able to work with actors Leon Harrop and Sarah Gordy again and to increase representation and diversity both on and off screen.

However, Leon is no stranger to British TV as he’s also appeared in hit shows such as Brassic and Casualty.

Meanwhile, Dr Sarah Gordy, MBE, is a British actress who is best known for her role as Katie Thorne in The A Word.

She also had roles as Orlando Quine in Strike: The Silkworm, Lady Pamela Holland in the BBC TV series of Upstairs Downstairs, and Lucy Craddle in The Long Call.

In 2018 she became the first woman with Down’s syndrome to be made an MBE and the first person with Down’s syndrome to receive an honorary degree from a UK university.
