Beyond Paradise in epic crossover with Death in Paradise as DI Humphrey Goodman takes huge step in emotional finale
BBC revealed that DI Humphrey Goodman is set to surprise fans with a visit to the beloved Saint Marie in the emotional Beyond Paradise series finale.
Humphrey (played by Kris Marshall) originally left Death in Paradise after making the decision to follow Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton) to London.
The couple continued their holiday romance in the city but decided they wanted a more relaxed lifestyle, which is why they moved to Devon.
The spin-off Beyond Paradise sees how the couple settles into a quieter life, with Humphrey joining the local police force and Martha opening up her own restaurant.
However, since their move, it hasn’t all been plain sailing for the couple.
And the ‘Paradise’ worlds collide in a cross-over Death in Paradise that fans will adore.
On his return to the island, Kris said: “I was honoured and delighted to return to Guadeloupe as part of Humphrey’s journey in Beyond Paradise, and to rekindle my deep passion for the island.”
In the final episode of the hugely popular series by Red Planet Pictures, the Shipton Abbott police team are faced with a seemingly impossible case to crack.
A burglary seems clear-cut at first when the thief’s unusual calling card matches that of local criminal Atticus Styles (Spencer Jones).
But when the forensic evidence comes back, it all points to another suspect.
The only problem is the suspect, Hayley Collins (Hannah Traylen), was locked up in a police cell by PC Kelby Hartford (Dylan Llewellyn) at the time of the crime.
Meanwhile, still reeling from recent events, DI Humphrey Goodman’s mind is elsewhere as he considers his future in Shipton Abbott.
The teaser clip shows Humphrey walking on the quiet beach in the sun-soaked island of Saint Marie.
He emotionally looks onto the run down beach house made of wood.
He sees a newt run along and says: “Hello friend.”
Viewers cannot wait for Humphrey’s return to the sunny shores of Saint Marie as they have previously pleaded for the show to do a crossover episode.
Taking to Twitter, one fan asked: “When are we going to see a Death in Paradise and a Beyond Paradise “crossover” episode?”
Another wrote: “I wonder if we’re going to end up with a crossing of the streams at the reveal… some Beyond Paradise style and Death in Paradise style.”
The Beyond Paradise series finale will air on BBC One on Friday 7th April at 8pm.
