Popular BBC series returning to screens as hosts invite fans to apply
A POPULAR BBC series is returning to our screens – as the hosts invite fans to apply.
Antiques shows are hugely popular on the BBC, from Bargain Hunt to Antiques Roadshow.
In October last year, BBC One launched a new addition to its roster hosted by The Repair Shop’s Will Kirk and Antique’s Road Trip’s Christina Trevanion.
The Travelling Auctioneers sees the pair take their bespoke mobile auction house and workshop out on the road across the UK.
Along the way, they unearth hidden gems and turn unwanted items into winning lots.
After the success of the first series, it was confirmed this week that a second had been commissioned.
The official Antiques Road Trip Twitter account shared a post which read: “The Travelling Auctioneers are back on the road!
“Is your home full of heirlooms, cupboards full of collectables, perhaps your attic is packed with artefacts or maybe your shed is just bursting at the seams with stuff? We’d love to hear from you!”
It then shared an email address to people wishing to apply to take part.
The tweet was above a picture of Will and Christina, with a description reading: “Do you have antiques or collectables you’d like auctioneer Christina Trevanion to value, and sell?
“Or damaged items craftsman Will Kirk can repair so they can be sold? The Travelling Auctioneers want to help YOU make money from objects destined for landfill or family heirlooms you’re ready to part with.”
Speaking about the show when it first launched, Will, 37, said: “Starting a new job is always a little nerve-wracking, but Christina was just so lovely from day one!
“We got on like a house on fire, so it was a real pleasure to go to work and get to film with her each day.”
He continued: “I’ve been incredibly lucky to work with some amazing people on all of my projects.
“We’ve always got each other’s backs and there is a real sense of community and family.
“Fronting my own show was a big step for me but I loved every minute of it!”
The Travelling Auctioneers airs on BBC One and is available on BBC iPlayer.
