I’m a stay-at-home mom who’s never at home – I have 3 kids under 4, and loads of ideas for fun free days out
A STAY-AT-HOME mom to three boys said she avoids cabin fever by getting the kids out of the house every day.
The best part is her activities are both toddler-stimulating and totally free.
As a mom of three boys under the age of four, parent influencer Chandler (@chanwiththeboys) knows it can be difficult to keep everyone entertained.
But the self-proclaimed “stay-at-home mom who never stays at home” said she leaves the house everyday with her young children without spending any money – and she’s revealing exactly how.
“Three cheap, small outings you can do with your kids today,” she began in the clip.
“It’s universal, no matter where you live you can probably find these things.”
While she said outings like zoo days and museum visits are great, they can be a bit overstimulating and draining.
Her top three activities are ones both she and her sons have enjoyed.
First up: a visit to the pet store.
“You don’t have to buy anything. Just walk around, look at the fish and the other small rodents.”
Chandler’s second idea is to hit a garden center like Lowe’s or The Home Depot.
“Go walk around, talk about colors, play I Spy.
“Just stroll with nothing to do and talk and teach.”
And her final tip was to go to a quiet part of the park, rather than the busy kids center.
“Don’t go to the playground if that stresses you out.
“Go to an area that no one else is sitting in. Maybe it’s shaded.
“Bring a blanket, bring a snack or two and just pick grass, make a grass pile. Something small like that.”
In the caption, she reminded her fellow parents that kids really just want to spend time with them, so it’s important to find activities that entertain the adults as well.
Viewers shared their own cheap activities similar to Chandler’s.
“New hack! took my toddler to an arcade on a rainy day. I didn’t buy ANYTHING. The games have demos so he just pushed buttons and pulled levers lol,” one person said.
“Go to your local library! They have TONS of free activities for all age groups. My 11 and 3 year old beg to go,” added another.
“We bring a balance bike and chalk to the empty school parking lot, hours of fun, zero planning,” a third noted.
