The Repair Shop stars share secret behind on screen ‘habit’ – but did you notice?
DUBBED the ‘Teddy bear ladies’ experts Amanda Middleditch and Julie Tatchell from The Repair Shop have revealed their behind-the-scenes ‘habit’ to fans.
In a recent Instagram Q&A, the pair explained why they stand on the same side when filming for the popular BBC programme.
Amanda Middleditch and Julie Tatchell took to their Teddy Bear Ladies joint Instagram account to answer some questions about the show.
The pair, who had been friends way before appearing in The Repair Shop, seemed in good spirits as they interacted with their followers.
In the Q&A response video, Julie starts the video off, and she said: “It was so lovely to see all your responses to our little soft disclosure about being on the same side of each other each time.
“But you’ve also asked why, and here’s why.”
Amanda then took the stage and said: “Because when we first started working on The Repair Shop, certain camera angles were easier because I’m slightly shorter than Julie and Jay [Blades] is like here.”
Julie then demonstrated the height difference.
“So he’d be on this side.” continued Amanda. “So we were like musical notes like that, is that right?
“Anyway, so it became a habit, and it’s easy now because everybody remembers our names because that was another thing.
“It was always the Bear Ladies, never Julie and Amanda, so that’s why.”
Last week the ladies posted a picture together, which was captioned: “Testing, Testing, changed settings on camera and voilà we are round the right way. Sorry if we confused you.”
Their followers ran to the comment section as one teased: “That’s better, nice to see the lovely ladies the right way round.”
A second commented: “I was dizzy for a while. Now, all in the world is right.”
A third penned: “And back in the room as you were ladies.”
A fourth wrote: “Marvellous.”
A fifth admired: “Beautiful ladies love your work Love from Australia.”
The Repair Shop is on BBC One at 8 pm.
