I transformed my council house on the cheap – now my two kids have their own rooms and it was all done with a bit of MDF
A MUM has been praised after showing how she transformed her council house so her kids could have their own rooms.
Jessica wanted her two children to have their own space, so decided to erect a partition wall down the middle of their room to give them just that.
They used lengths of wood to create a frame, before adding some MDF to make the partition.
Once that was in, they painted both sections of the room white, before painting one side pink and the other dark blue.
They also added laminate flooring.
Jessica then showed what the rooms looked like when they were finished.
Both children had high sleeper beds, which meant there was space underneath for storage or for a desk.
In her daughter’s room, they put some of her toys – including a doll’s house – underneath the bed, on a pink fluffy rug.
There was also enough space for a slim wardrobe at the end of the bed, and they installed a TV for her on the wall.
Her son’s room had an entirely different feel, as it had been transformed into a gamer’s paradise.
Under his bed was a large desk and computer for him to play his video game on.
There was also enough room at the end of the bed for two large animal tanks, a wardrobe and a chest of drawers.
Both rooms were also given their own blinds – with the partition wall only visible in the middle of the window from the outside, but not causing a problem.
Sharing videos of the transformation on TikTok, Jessica added captions such as #splitbedrooms #partition #partitionwall and #councilhome.
People were quick to praise Jessica for the room makeover, with one writing: “I grew up in a split room like this, you’ve done a great job. Lucky kids!”
“These are brilliant,” another said.
As a third commented: “Looks mint.”
“Wow this looks amazing, bet the kids are well happy,” someone else praised.
“Yes they love it,” Jessica replied.
“Wow, wish I had thought of this when mine were wee. love it,” another wrote.
