I’m a gypsy & made the decision NOT to cover my sofa in plastic – but it still gets a special scrubbing technique
A WOMAN from the gypsy community has shared her number one secret to keeping her sofa clean all year round.
And instead of relying on her usually foolproof idea of covering her settee in plastic to minimise the dirt, the lady called Heidi McDonagh Clee revealed she has an alternative cleaning method that works just as well.
Heidi said she swears by a simple product called Asevi, which she just adds to a bucket of water.
The cleaning hero item, which can be bought online, and the warm water come together to create an amazing solution – one that Heidi can’t shout about enough.
Pointing to the bleach product that comes in a blue bottle, Heidi recently revealed: “This is how I wash my sofa – that is all I put into the bucket.
“I made the decision not to plastic my sofa. Every bunk inside my trailer, every sofa, I have plastic. But I decided not to do this one.”
In the video posted to her TikTok account, Heidi continued to explain that the sofa, which she got from Sofology, is around three years old.
But she said she can keep it looking good as new thanks to not only the formula she’s concocted, but also the way in which she does it.
Heidi revealed that one of the most important things is to use “a Costco cloth” for the scrubbing.
She then went on to say how much of the liquid you should use, as she explained: “First of all, when I say don’t drown the sofa – just don’t do it.”
The traveller continued: “I start by doing the back of the sofa first, so I can pull it out and then give it a chance to dry while I carry on with the rest.
“Then I’ll do all the inside. Whilst that’s drying, a fresh bucket of bleachy water and different Costo cloth and I do my radiators and skirting boards. Then I’ll do the seats.”
And proving it’s as good as she says it is, Heidi showed how there had previously been a small mark on her blue sofa.–but it was gone in no time.
She said: “You don’t need no fancy chemicals here, just literally keep going until it comes out.”
Heidi’s final piece of advice was to “take your time with it” and scrub away until you’re satisfied.
She said that will mean that “you won’t need to compensate with different things that might discolour or damage any of the material.”
She then gave a final shot of her freshly cleaned sofa, showing how it was gleaming from top to bottom.
But the woman said there was one final step to follow that shouldn’t be forgotten – a generous spritz of “Spanish Febreze”.
Heidi concluded: “Now it smells absolutely lovely – and there we go, that’s everything done.”
