Drivers are only just realising they can reverse into a parking bay perfectly every time with expert’s fool-proof method
A DRIVING expert has revealed a fool-proof method to perfectly back into a parking bay every time.
The unnamed British driving instructor explained the tactic in a Tiktok video filmed from behind the wheel and outside the vehicle.
In the clip, he gives a step-by-step process to reverse into a parking without moving outside its lines.
“We’re going to start by positioning close to the mouth of the bay that we want to park in,” he began.
“The key to this manoeuvre is keeping the car speed very low and turn out when our head and shoulders are level with the centre of the bay you want to reverse into.
“Steer full lock to the left until the car gets to 45 degrees angle and then straighten the wheels before coming to a full stop.”
The instructor went on to offer tips to those who are new to working the method.
“If you’re new to this manoeuvre or you’re struggling with it, take some time to identify the two bay lines in the right wing mirror,” he said.
“How well you’ve done the first bit will dictate how quickly you have to steer on this bit.
“Try to keep that right bay line in the view, in the mirror and if you think you’re going to be too close to it or over it, take a bit of your turn off.
He finished by telling drivers to “use the bay’s lines opposite and either side of you to work out when the car is straight.”
One prospective driver said she was unaware of the trick just days before hitting the road.
“My test is next week and I haven’t been taught this,” she said.
However, some users said the move could be harder to execute when a carpark is brimming with other vehicles.
“I can only do it if there’s three spaces, I wouldn’t try it between two cars,” one person wrote.
The tip comes after another instructor revealed how drivers can undertake cars without breaking any rules.
