We renovated our kitchen – my design may not be everyone’s cup of tea but all that matters is I like it
A HOMEOWNER has revealed her kitchen renovation — but admitted it may not be everyone’s cup of tea.
She, however, is a fan and worked hard to get the final look, even going as far as to tear the resin off her kitchen counters by hand.
Izzy (@izzyyowenss) shared the kitchen transformation with over 240,000 TikTok followers.
She explained that she was so unhappy with how her kitchen used to look that her intrusive thoughts got the best of her.
“I peeled all of this resin off of my countertops,” she said, sharing videos of herself slowly peeling the black material off her wooden countertops manually.
“I thought underneath it all was butcher block but it ended up just being fake butcher block.”
Instead of trying to save the countertops, she thought it best to replace them completely and made a trip to the shop with her husband.
The two also tore out the kitchen wall behind their countertops, replacing the previous grey walls with a vibrant pink pattern that complemented their green cabinets.
They also added white countertops and renovated their sink, much to Izzy’s relief.
“I’m literally obsessed with this, it’s not everybody’s cup of tea but it’s my cup of tea and since I live in the house, that’s all that matters,” she said.
People took to the comments to share their thoughts on their upgrades.
Many thought her decision to remove the resin was a great choice: “Even if it was butcher block the resin would’ve made it toxic to use,” said one commenter.
Others were impressed with her eye for design: “Pink and sage are an iconic duo!” said another.
“And it’s just peel and stick, it’s so easy to replace if you end up wanting something different.”
