A popular de-fleaing product almost killed my cat – now I’m warning other owners, I followed the instructions perfectly
A TIKTOKER has claimed that a popular de-flea product for pets nearly killed his cat.
The animal lover is now warning other pet-owners against purchasing it.
Chris Bautista (@Chris Bautista) stitched his video with another creator on TikTok complaining of their experiences with the product.
The woman in the stitched video claimed that Hartz’s UltraGuard Plus Flea and Tick Treatment killed her dog.
“This f**king brand almost killed my cat as well,” Chris replied.
He showed a photo of his cat before detailing his experience.
“This right here is my best friend in the whole fucking wide world. His name is Gumbo.
“One day, Gumbo had fleas, so I decided to take care of it. So I bought this s**t right here, this exact bottle,” he said, gesturing to an image of the Hartz product.
“So I follow the directions, and I sprayed it exactly the way it instructed me and I combed it through his hair. And within about 30 minutes, he started seizing, having seizures.
“I freaked out, was unresponsive, eyes roll in the back of my head. I rushed him over to a vet,” he said.
Chris claimed that the veterinarian said he advises clients not to use the product on their pets due to safety concerns.
“The vet was like, ‘I don’t know why anyone ever uses products like this. I’ve seen so many pets die because of it,'” he added.
Chris also claimed that the product didn’t even fulfill it’s intended use, with his cat still having fleas after the ordeal.
“Worst part was that he still had fleas at the end. It, like, it almost killed my cat, but it kept the fleas alive.
“It’s like, if you wanna have pet fleas and you wanna get rid of the cat,” he said.
Chris urged viewers to get rid of the product if they have it, even offering a petition to sign to get the product our of stores.
“I recommend that if you have any of these Hartz products, just throw them out and never buy them again.
“Hey, guys, don’t forget to sign the petition that’s right here on my profile to get this s**t product off the shelves,” he said.
The petition claimed there are “hazardous chemicals” in the product, reading: “Walmart and Target sell the Hartz brand.
“This petition is to ask both these major chains to take these dangerous products off their shelves to protect pets and their owners from the hazardous chemicals they contain.”
The U.S. Sun has reached out to Hartz for comment.
