Coronation Street fans slam Rovers Return plot after another twist
CORONATION Street’s seemingly endless saga about the Rovers Return continued tonight with another shock move.
The backstreet boozer has suddenly been thrust to the forefront of the soap with landlady Jenny Connor declaring it has just weeks to go before she is forced to close it.
After this week’s hair-brained scheme to convince the brewery to buy the failing pub back failed, Jenny was reduced to accepting an offer from a property developer.
But behind the scenes Gemma Winter tried to convince her ex, Henry Newton, to reconsider and buy the pub.
He agreed to it and convinced his dad to do the same – and then promptly changed his mind once Chesney punched him.
Later the entire saga took another twist when Chesney called him to apologise and Henry changed his mind once again.
Henry sat Gemma down and talked her through his decision – but it came with strings.
I decided buying the Rovers might be a good investment after all.
Before you get carried away – there is one condition.
“I want you to come and work for me full-time at Newton and Ridley as my personal assistant.
Gemma turned him down, before Henry explained why he was offering her the job.
“Our relationship will be a purely professional one,” he said.
“Chesney told me about your brother and what you’ve been going through. I’m so sorry and I wish there was more I could do.
“This job will pay you much more than you’re earning now and I’m guessing you could use the money. I just want to help you Gemma.”
Gemma asked him for time and he left but Daisy was quick to jump in his seat and question Gemma.
“I don’t know if I can,” Gemma replied.
“I don’t want to see this place go under anymore than you do but I don’t want to lose my marriage over it. So right now I don’t know what I’m going to do.”
And now with viewers knowing that the pub could be saved but Jenny not knowing, they are sick of the twists and turns.
One wrote: “So bored of all of this now.”
A second said: “Anyone else tired of all this back and forth?”
Another added: “Over it now.”
