Mum shares genius method to highlight her own hair – it costs just £23 a year and even hairdressers are impressed
A MUM has revealed how she highlights her own hair at home and has saved a fortune over the years.
The savvy TikTok user revealed in a video that she touches up her blonde roots for just £23 per year.
In a post, the self-described “single mom/ grandma” explained that back in her 20s she went and had her highlights done at the salon a few times, but was disappointed with the results.
She continued: “If I’m going to pay money for this stuff, I’m going to figure out how to do it myself.”
The woman explained – while demonstrating with a comb and foils – that she buys the blonde power for $20 (£16) and the developer for $5 (£4), both of which last her a year.
She added: “So I can do my own highlights for a year for like 30 bucks (£23).”

The woman added that she also does her daughters’ hair too, because “it’s really not that hard at all”.
She said she refuses to pay $300 (£234) at a salon, and also shared the stunning results of her efforts in a follow-up video.
The original clip was popular with fellow social media users who left more than 75,000 ‘likes’.

Her follow-up video received 12,000 ‘likes’, and many messages of praise for her DIY beauty skills.
