I’m a mum & found the best kids’ cafe that costs £3 to visit – with hundreds of Lego sets & cheap snacks and drinks
A DOTING mum has discovered a clever cafe that keeps the kids entertained for hours without breaking the bank.
Jen took to her social media page to share the details of the magical find with her 367,300 followers.
She posted a clip of her four-year-old son Leo, who she shares with partner João, walking down the street as they came up to the ‘Builder’s Brew’ cafe.
Located in Sheffield, visitors need to book in a time slot of one, two or three hours and tickets cost just £3 per person at the Lego-themed cafe.
“You will not believe what we’ve been up to this evening,” Jen told viewers. “Check out this Lego Cafe, this is right up our street.”
She explained that at the entrance of the cafe, there’s a screen with all the Lego sets available before finding the corresponding number in a wall stacked with boxes.
Jen continued: “You book by the hour – we booked two. So we got the hot chocolates in, had some food and it was honestly so much fun.”
As she said this, she revealed the sweet white mugs with the cafe’s logo on the front followed by what appeared to be a BLT sandwich.
Sharing a short clip of her son, Jen explained that while she stuck to a Lego set to build, Leo decided to “to do his own thing and do some free building”.
“Leo was so proud of his creation that he wanted to show everyone and even got to put it on the special shelf,” she continued, showing off his carriage build.
She went on: “Leo absolutely loved it and has already decided we’re coming back tomorrow.”
In the caption, she added: “This is what a bangin’ Friday night looks like for our family.
“Builder’s Brew Cafe is a new cafe that has opened in Sheffield centre – I’ve never heard of anything like this before, we headed straight there once we were told about it!
“Definitely Leo’s new favourite spot.”
People flocked to the comments to share their thoughts as one person wrote: “This looks amazing, definitely adding this to my list of things to do.”
Another shared: “So happy I’ve seen this! My kids would love it!” to which TikTok user @thetravelmum replied: “It’s so much fun!”
A third shared: “I live in Sheffield and had no idea this existed! Thank you!!”
Jen responded: “It only opened recently! Such a great place to have close by,” followed by a heart emoji.
According to the cafe’s website, the “average” builder can put together around 250 bricks per hour.
“So if you’ve booked for 2 hours, you’ll want to avoid sets with more than 500 pieces (especially if you want time to play with it once you’ve finished building),” they explained.
It’s suitable for children of all ages, but they warn that the Lego pieces can be a choking hazard for “really little people, so you’ll need to keep it out of their reach”.
While the cafe may have only opened at the end of June 2023, it’s already received 5-star reviews on TripAdvisor.
One person wrote: “We had a space off to one side for our group of 5 and it was lovely, not too noisy but still a great atmosphere.
“The brownies are delicious. Kids managed a couple of sets each. Staff are quick to find replacement pieces if we found anything missing.”
A second person, who went with friends and two children, shared: “I’m not sure we’d say we’re the biggest LEGO fans in the world, but this was a great way to spend time together, being creative, doing something different and memorable.
“Will definitely return. Love that we have this in Sheffield!”
While a third added: “Amazing idea! Lots of options of sets to choose from. We chose to do the Mandalorian ship and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves (all in our 30s!).
“Lego is definitely not just for kids. Great coffee and food too,” followed by a smiling emoji.
Meanwhile, here are five activities for kids to do in the summer that cost absolutely nothing.
