Tragedy as man’s body is pulled from Darlington river – with cops probing ‘unexplained’ death
A MAN’S body has been pulled from Darlington River with cops now probing the “unexplained” death.
Emergency services rushed to the River Skerne, near Five Arches Bridge, around 7am on Monday morning.
They responded to reports of a man in the water before making the tragic discovery shortly after.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is not yet known how he died with cops now carrying out enquiries into the “unexplained” death.
A Durham Police spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a body in the River Skerne, near the Five Arches bridge, in Darlington, shortly before 7am yesterday morning.
“Sadly, the man was confirmed dead at the scene.
“Enquiries are ongoing and his death is currently being treated as unexplained.”
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson added: “We received a call at 06.53 to reports of a person in the water in the River Skerne.
“We dispatched a paramedic ambulance, our hazardous area response team (HART) crews and a clinical team leader to support the police and fire and rescue service at the scene.”
