While Ani, played by Welsh soap star Bethan Ellis-Owen, expects all the highs of becoming a mother, she soon learns of all the lows.
Before she knows it, she’s battling post-natal depression as she navigates the strains of being a modern parent.
But despite the dark-humoured drama, the show, which is an adaptation of the stage show written by Rhiannon Boyle, is sure to have viewers hot under the collar thanks to its steamy sex scenes.
Already, the series has been likened to BBC comedy Fleabag, thanks to the breaking-the-fourth-wall explanations from lead Ani.
An insider said of the new series: “The series has tonal similarities to Fleabag or Motherland but with a unique Welsh twist.
“It’s dark but hilarious, and Ani’s pieces to camera are guaranteed to have people cringing and laughing at the same time.”
Bethan added of the new series: “S4C has never shown a drama so full of sex, and sexy Argentinian South American men who speak Welsh before!
“It’s a play full of dirty jokes, slang and the stuff women experience but they’re too afraid or too embarrassed to talk about.
“It is a witty, tongue-in-cheek comedy that’s full of humor but has an emotional story full of love and hope at the heart of the narrative.”
Anfamol will be available to stream on the 6th September on BBC iPlayer and S4C Clic
