I’m a car cleaning expert – here’s the best shampoo to leave your motor sparkling
A CAR cleaning expert has revealed the best shampoo to leave your motor sparkling.
Keeping your vehicle spotless can be tricky and expensive – but here are some top rated products to help make it easier.
The number one brand, tested by Autocar gurus, was the McLaren ceramic shampoo priced at £7.42 per 500ml.
It’s grime-busting formula was deemed the most effective in the car-cleaning line up, and it’s pleasant aroma was an extra bonus.
While it is more expensive than others, Autocar experts gave it five stars and said: “It left the best finish here, with the ceramic coating really leaving a great shine and impressively water-repellent finish.
“The paintwork felt really smooth to the touch, and we barely needed to dry the car, it was so effective. It really is good enough to justify the price.”
Another recommended car shampoo was the Autoglym Ultra High Def brand.
Motorists will have to fork out £16.95 per litre for the four star rated product but according to car cleaning whizzes, it’s worth it.
It’s rapid drying technology and foamy consistency make Autoglym a useful item to keep in the car cleaning kit.
“With or without a final buff, it leaves paintwork feeling glossy, and water beads and runs off to help keep the high shine for longer,” added Autocar experts.
In third place, Turtle Wax Zip Wax, which was also dubbed the best budget buy.
At £7.09 for 2.5 litres, the great value product is an affordable option amid tough times for many at the moment.
And, car cleaning experts awarded it five stars, they penned: “It did a fine job of rinsing away grime without needing much agitating to loosen the dirt, Paint, glass and metalwork all came up with a bright, clean, smear-free finish, and the wax gave a great shine helped to keep the car looking smart for days after the wash.”
Williams Racing Car Wash and Wax was rated the fourth best item.
It’s four star formula easily rubbed away dirt and minimal buffing was needed to achieve a sparking finish.
Autocar gurus added: “It leaves a good shine that lasted well, but it wasn’t up there with the really glossy finish that the Autogylm and McLaren delivered.”
The product will set you back £22.99 for a whopping 10 litres.
In fifth place, Simoniz Car Shampoo and Carnauba Wax, was deemed a “really powerful shampoo”.
It was also handed four stars, however fell short of the others due to the finish.
Car cleaning whizzes explained: “It doesn’t leave quite the water-beading, glossy finish that other pricier options achieve, but at the price, it’s hard to beat.”
It costs just £25.99 for 10 litres.
Holts Car Shampoo and Wax, Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo and Conditioner, CarPlan Ultra shampoo, ArmorAll SpeedDry car wash, and Mer High Shine shampoo also made the top 10.
