I found the perfect dupe of a £270 footstool from Aldi – and it instantly turns any room into looking chic
NOW that the kids are back at school, you might find that you have a bit more time on your hands to get crafty and give your home an autumn refresh.
And one clever influencer is leading her way, with her quick hack to create a dupe of a £269 footstool in a couple of minutes.
Jade Sweeney, who posts on social media using the handle @Home_On_The_Commons, regularly shares her tips for creating chic-looking spaces on a budget.
And one of her recent projects has got fans absolutely swooning over the gorgeous result.
In a clip posted on Instagram, Jade shared that she’d “almost bought” a £269 Penfold stool from luxury homeware brand Swoon in a stunning egg-shell colour.
But before she splashed out on the high-priced piece, she spotted a very similar one in Aldi for just £30.
The savvy shopper showed off the Aldi dupe, which is almost indistinguishable from Swoon’s version – the only difference being that Aldi’s one has a gold chrome base.
Preferring the neutral wooden look the Swoon one, Jade decided to give her Aldi buy a bit of an upgrade.
The crafty interiors influencer picked up a roll of oak adhesive film from B&Q, costing just £6.50
The gorgeous wooden-look wrap even has grid lines on the back, meaning it was super easy for Jade to cut a piece that was the right size to wrap around the entirety of the footstool’s base.
After applying the sticky tape, she showed off the final result, leaving viewers jaw-dropped with just how similar it looked to the designer version.
“£36.49 vs £269,” Jade wrote in a caption. “LOVE IT.”
And viewers clearly shared the love, flooding the video’s comment section with their admiration for the quick DIY project.
“This is so good!” one wrote. “Looks so easy, wouldn’t have though of doing that and makes it look so much more expensive.”
“How amazing does this look,” another added. “Love it.”
“Gorgeous,” a third commented. “That’s a FANTASTIC find.”
It’s not the only Aldi dupe that’s been sending the internet wild recently.
Vino-lovers are currently raving about the supermarket’s £7 Specially Selected Coteaux De Beziers, which they claim tastes just like £26 Whispering Angel rosé.
Shoppers are also going mad for Aldi’s £2 La Mer Candle, which is a dead ringer for the White Company’s £22 Seychelles one.
