Glasgow Airport passengers in travel chaos due to major security incident with police ‘looking for someone’
HUNDREDS of passengers have been left in huge queues at Glasgow Airport today due to major security issues.
Images show hundreds of travellers stuck in long, winding queues as they try to get through security checks for their flights.
Passengers caught up in the queue chaos inside the terminal have told how police are checking their IDs and are “looking for someone”.
Eyewitnesses claim that there are only two security belts open for the whole airport currently.
Passengers are being directed by the police and airport staff to join the queue.
Some airport travellers are claiming that extra security checks are taking place.
Some passengers have missed their flights due to the ongoing security incident at the airport.
An onlooker told the Scottish Sun: “Police aren’t telling us anything. But, the general chat is that they are looking for someone. The flights are going ahead. It’s just stringent security checks at security first”.
One user tweeted: “Queue didn’t move for an hour. Missed flight to Southampton.
Nadine Campbell wrote: “NATIONAL SECURITY ALERT at Glasgow Airport.
“Anyone know anything? It’s not exactly the best day to be stuck in an airport with zero air con.”
Another user added: “Turns out additional ID checks by Border Force under Prevention of Terrorism Act.
@GLA_Airport it’s like dealing with kids. Always tell them the truth or they grow thinking you are useless ‘airport at capacity’.
