I’m an interior designer – my easy tip will make your home smell like fall, it’s a quick fix when guests come round
AN interior designer has revealed an easy tip for making your home smell like the first day of fall.
You probably have all the ingredients for the simple hack in your kitchen.
TikToker Liz Lovery (@lizlovery) shared her recipe to create a fall stovetop potpourri in a new video.
The designer said to start with a crockpot.
Then get an orange and an apple and slice them into thin rounds.
The next step is to pour five cups of water into the crockpot and add the slices of fruit.
Once they’re in, the interior designer said to add two cinnamon sticks, two whole cloves, two star anise, and three allspice berries.
Liz instructed viewers to cover the pot with a lid and bring the mixture to a boil.
Her final step is to bring the pot to a simmer and uncover it — and the fall aromas will last in your house for hours, she said.
Some people in the comment section said another name for Liz’s stovetop potpourri was a simmer pot.
“This my friends is a simmer pot.. and her ingredients bring good luck and prosperity. Welcome to the craft,” one person wrote.
Another person wrote a tip that could make the mixture drinkable.
“Swap the water for apple juice/cider & after letting your house smell good for a couple hours you can drink it,” the follower shared.
One viewer asked if it was possible to eliminate cinnamon from the recipe.
Liz said yes and: “Vanilla would be a great substitute.”
Someone else suggested swapping wine for water to create mulled wine.
“Love this! Currently pregnant but will definitely try this in the fall,” the interior designer wrote back.
