I’m an interior designer – my go-to place for budget home decor dupes and tips for picking pieces that feel high-end
AN interior designer has revealed where she shops for budget home decor tips.
She explained that furnishing your home with elevated pieces can get expensive quickly but offered alternatives for those on a budget.
Sophia (@houseofd3) shared the interior design advice with over 160,000 TikTok followers.
“So you want high-end design but on a budget? I’ve got you,” she said.
She explained that when she’s running short on a budget on the job, she knows exactly what to pull budget-friendly options from.
“Expensive cabinet poles and knobs are amazing if you can afford them but they can get pricey,” she said.
“Typically if we’re running low on budget towards the end of a project, this is one area I’ll go find a dupe.”
Rather than spending $20 and upwards on a pole, she picked an alternative from Amazon and figured out a good swap.
“There’s two things I look for when it comes to buying stuff on Amazon, first and foremost, when it comes to poles, you want to make sure there’s substantial weight,” she said.
“Anything that feels weighty in your hand is going to instantly feel more luxurious and it also helps with durability.”
Despite looking for a dupe, the interior designer explained she still wouldn’t cheap out on quality.
The second thing she looked for in a dupe was a quality finish.
“No painted-on and imitation brass or chrome, we want to make sure it’s a metal finish and has high reviews,” she said.
People thanked her for her advice and kept it in mind for their own renovations.
“Never thought of looking at the weight! So good,” said one commenter.
