Hannah Spearritt moves tell-all book release date to clash with S Club’s comeback show to get revenge after axing
SHE is out of the S Club reunion after a fall out and now relations are going to get even frostier between Hannah Spearritt and her bandmates.
As part of a major money-making drive after being left homeless last year, Hannah is releasing a memoir and has moved the release date so that it comes out on the day that S Club’s reunion tour kicks off.
The book, called Facing The Music, had originally been due out a week earlier but will now hit shelves on October 12, hours before Rachel hits the stage with bandmates Bradley McIntosh, Jo O’Meara, Jon Lee and Tina Barrett.
S Club – who had four No1 singles including Don’t Stop Movin’ and Never Had A Dream Come True between 1999 and 2003 – announced their reunion in February but two months later, band member Paul Cattermole died, and shortly afterwards the group announced Hannah wouldn’t be taking part.
But it was later claimed she was “pushed out” and felt “betrayed” by the group’s decision to move forward without her, which those close to her said she wasn’t told about.
A source said: “Hannah’s book is full of explosive claims about her time in S Club and exactly what happened with her exit from the reunion tour.
“It will not be pretty reading for the group and it feels like Hannah is trying to overshadow the tour.
“Things have the potential to get very messy.”
Speaking to The Sun in July, Jon said: “She’s not going to be joining us on this tour but like I said, we’ve got loads of stuff that’s happening next year so the door is always open.
“She might join us on the project next year at some point.”
Tina added: “It’s nothing bad. It’s just that everyone needs their own space.”
They might not be feeling quite the same once they read what she has to say.
Roman tells ministers: Put more cash into mental health
ROMAN KEMP has taken his crusade for better mental health to Parliament in a bid to secure more support and funding for those in need.
The radio and TV star, who has spoken regularly about his own battle with depression, this week wrote a moving open letter to ministers about his experiences, urging them to provide more cash for schools to support kids with depression, anxiety and other emotional distress.
Roman wrote: “At the age of 15 I was diagnosed with depression and experienced suicidal thoughts for the first time.
“Proper support needs to be in place for those who need it, and the sad reality is that in 2023, it’s often individuals and charities who are trying to cover the gaps in a system that is becoming overwhelmed.”
He said many schools are not equipped to address mental health issues, and he pushed for every school to have a mental health support team – whereas the Government’s current target is just 36 per cent.
He added: “The current target leaves children across the UK in a lottery as to whether or not someone is there to help them.”
Roman has been an avid mental health campaigner after losing a close pal, radio producer Joe Lyons, who tragically took his own life in 2020 due to depression.
Since then he has established and worked with several initiatives focused on the subject – and he is someone I turned to when a GP prescribed me anti-depressants during a difficult time.
And he was spot on.
Here’s hoping politicians take notice and provide more support to youngsters on the ground – it’s an initiative which could save many, many young lives.

MATTY HEALY is one of music’s biggest lotharios, but he’s unlikely to splash the cash on posh dinner dates as he is an incredibly fussy eater.
The 1975 frontman’s mum, Loose Women star Denise Welch is taking the blame for his limited palate because she brought him up on a diet of fast-food deliveries.
She said: “Sadly I got them takeaways far too regularly and to be honest I feel a bit guilty because my children are not great eaters.
“They’re picky and they rarely ever finish anything and it drives me mad.”
Speaking to the My Favourite Takeaway podcast, out yesterday, Denise said: “Matty came home last week and the first thing he wanted to do was not see me, but to go out to get a sandwich.”
Boy No 2 for RiRi
RIHANNA has confirmed reports she’s given birth to a boy.
The singer welcomed a brother for son Rza at the start of the month.
She made the announcement as she revealed she was working on a new collaboration with Puma and would be releasing a trainer design, called the Avanti, for £130 a pop.
Speaking to Vogue, Rihanna said: “This time around, we expanded our creations to kids, because I selfishly want my boys in everything their dad [Asap Rocky] and I wear or design.”
How very von Trapp of them.
Rihanna has yet to share a photo of her latest arrival but I am sure it won’t be long.
She made her first snap of Rza on the opening post on her TikTok account.
And given her new Avanti collaboration is out next Friday, I’d put my money on seeing the tot around then.
OLIVIA RODRIGO will sing at the MTV VMAs next Tuesday, two years after she won three awards during her debut slot at the show.
The Driver’s License star is up for six gongs, with nods in major categories including Video Of The Year.
Olivia’s new album Guts is out today, so she’ll likely treat fans to a new track or two.
AWARD DO HOTS UP
EXCITEMENT reached fever pitch as stars gathered for the Mercury Prize – on the hottest day of the year.
And singer Raye revealing she hopes to launch an acting career following the runaway success of her debut album, My 21st Century Blues.
Posing in a slinky black dress for an exclusive red carpet chat, she said: “I feel really excited with the freedom of what I’m going to do next. I would love to do acting.
“I haven’t been trained so I would need to clear the calendar. I’d be working every day with an acting coach.”
On what her nomination means to her, she added: “The artist I was two years ago would never have got nominated for the Mercury Prize. I’ve been taken seriously as an artist for the first time.”
The Mercury Prize celebrates the most critically-acclaimed British or Irish album of the past 12 months.
Raye performed at last night’s ceremony, in the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, West London, alongside fellow nominees Loyle Carner, Jessie Ware, Ezra Collective, Jockstrap, Lankum, Olivia Dean, Young Fathers and Shygirl.
Arctic Monkeys and Fred Again were missing as they are on tour, while J Hus pulled out due to illness.
Jessie, who wore a dusky pink dress for the event, said: “Luckily I’m first on so I can start the champagne very early. I may look worse for wear tomorrow.”
Olivia, up for her debut album Messy, said she was “strangely calm but sweaty”.
As long as there’s air con, I’m sure she’ll have a great time.
