I’m an interior designer & here’s a popular trend you must ditch immediately – it’s so basic, sterile & never looks good
AN INTERIOR designer has revealed the popular trend you must ditch immediately – so if you want your home to impress, you’ll need to listen up.
Particularly if you have plans to decorate your kitchen, you might be shocked to know that according to Loren Kreiss, white cabinets are not a good look.
Loren explained that white cabinets are “sterile” and “basic” and instead, you should opt for a natural wood.
Sharing his thoughts on social media, Loren posted his clip with the caption ‘Let’s retire this popular design choice.’
He then said: “White kitchen cabinets have been as catchy as COVID for years, but I’m sorry to tell you that they’re sterile, lifeless, and basic.
“White kitchen cabinets are the builder beige of today.
“Looking for a better alternative? Try a natural wood ranging from a light oak to walnut, in a matte finish instead.
“If your cabinets are paint grade, try a soft white or a green if you’re feeling frisky.
“Are you ready to kiss your white kitchen cabinets goodbye?”
Loren’s TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @lorenkreiss, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 75,700 views in just four days.
But social media users were left divided at Loren’s clip – while some were desperate to ditch white cabinets, others were reluctant to say goodbye to theirs.
One person said: “I just said this today to my husband. I’m wishing we would have chosen wood instead of white eight years ago.”
A second added: “Agree….and impossible to keep spotless.”
A third commented: “I have never liked white cabinets.”
Whilst another explained: “Thank GOD!! I am so with this, per usual. Sooo basic.”
However, someone else penned: “White kitchen cabinets will ALWAYS be classic and in style.”
Another chimed in: “White cabinets might not be “trendy” anymore but when done right they’ll always be classic. And a good resale.”
A home whizz admitted: “Love my white cabinets and not changing them.”
Whilst another user wrote: “Sometimes you’re wrong.”
To this, Loren claimed: “Nope. I never miss.”
