Beloved game show returning to screens next week as ITV drops first look trailer with celebrity line-up
A BELOVED game show is coming back to screens next week and viewers can look forward to lots of familiar faces in the celebrity line-up.
Blankety Blank is back in business, airing on BBC One and iPlayer on Saturday, September 23.
And The Chase‘s Bradley Walsh is back to head up this series of the comedic competition as contestants try to get on a celebrity’s wavelength.
The long-standing game show involves competitors and celebrities being shown a phrase with one word missing.
The A-listers get the first chance to write down their guess at the missing word, and contestants have to correctly guess the celeb’s answer to win a unique prize.
Huge names such as Iain Stirling, the narrator for Love Island, and TV personality Scarlett Moffatt will feature in the new BBC series.
Rylan Clark, Alison Hammond, Jill Scot, and Rob Beckett will also make an appearance.
In a first look at the series in the trailer released by ITV, plenty of gags can already be heard – such as Iain Stirling loudly asking why one of the bespectacled contestants “is me ten years ago”.
One of the people on the show is also asked if she does yoga, responding “absolutely not” to fits of laughter.
Bradley Walsh previously spoke about his love for the show, saying: “It’s a brilliant show to work on. I get the chance to hang out with a lovely bunch of people for a few hours, as we attempt to play a silly, fun game.
“The great thing about Blankety Blank is that it doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s a wonderfully entertaining show, both to present and to watch at home.
“I stand on the shoulders of giants like Les Dawson and Sir Terry Wogan but I’m hoping to put my own stamp on the fantastically nostalgic show.”
